The Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs (EOEA) has drafted groundbreaking Environmental Justice policy, now in a public comment period through March 30, 2001. Led by Secretary Robert Durand and EOEA Environmental Justice Director Veronica Eady, the draft policy is available on the EOEA website.

We at SAND commend the EOEA for its continued commitment to planning and development within the context of a sustainable environment. From the Community Preservation Act to its work on the Municipal Harbor Plan, the EOEA under Secretary Durand's stewardship has set a standard for community involvement in environmental planning issues, equitable access and fair distribution of impacts on natural resources.
