The Boston Redevelopment Authority is moving forward with the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for redevelopment of the Old Northern Avenue Bridge.
Congressman Joseph Moakley, responsible for securing funding for much of the Seaport District infrastructure including the new Northern Avenue Bridge, had supported the replacement of the Old Northern Avenue Bridge. More recently, however, Congressman Moakley -- responding to community appeals for preservation, has reportedly been considering ideas for reusing the existing structure.
A number of re-use and preservation proposals are being discussed.
